Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Training - Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACoA)

Are you a therapist, counsellor, health or social care professional, or educator looking to deepen your understanding and enhance your ability to support Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACoA)?

If you are, this specialised training is designed just for you.

‌It is estimated that one in five children grow up in a household with an alcohol problem.

Once they reach adulthood they will continue to face unique needs and challenges but with far less support, and few professionals fully understand the emotional, mental and relational impact of growing up in an alcoholic home.

As an experienced psychotherapist with lived experience as an ACoA, I wanted to use my dual perspective to develop training which offers a depth of understanding that goes beyond conventional academic learning.

By blending my personal insight with professional expertise, I’ve created a course that provides a profound understanding of a forgotten client group, and which is highly practical and directly applicable to your working practices.

What you will gain

  • In-depth knowledge & understanding - explore the complexities and nuances of ACoA issues, including common behavioural patterns, characteristics, emotional struggles, and coping mechanisms

  • Enhanced empathy & insight - gain a deeper, more empathetic understanding of your clients' experiences, to build stronger therapeutic alliances

  • Practical tools & techniques - learn trauma-informed approaches and interventions to support ACoA clients, and to build trust and rapport with them

  • Relatable working strategies – to create a safe and supportive space for healing, growth and empowerment, to help them to break free from dysfunctional patterns and to lead fulfilling lives

I can highly recommend Eve as a therapist.

She listens to you very carefully, understands you, but at the same time she is able to give you a different point of view, so you can reflect on your own problems with more perspective and find a solution.

If you feel that you are struggling and in need of help, do not hesitate to contact her.
